Borehole Imaging

Where

Geovisor executes bot optical (OBI) and acoustic (ABI) imaging. Optical imaging is based on the use of optical camera technology in bore hole. Typically, method is used for locating geological structures such as rock type, mineralogy, fracturing, fracture directions, fracture filling etc. in the bore hole. Acoustical imaging is based on the use of acoustic camera technology in bore hole. Typically, method is used for locating geological structures such as fractures, fracture directions, etc. in the bore hole.

Advantages

Bore hole imaging provides significant additional information about rock structures and are often used alongside the drill core. Especially, if the drill core is very crushed, bore hole imaging can accurately detect rock structures. If the bore hole is made by boring instead of drilling, hole imaging is the only way to preserve information about rock structures.

Surveys

Optical imaging can be executed in dry or water filled bore hole. If the hole is water filled, the water has to be optically transparent. Acoustic imaging always requires the water filled bore hole. Acoustic imaging can also be executed through bore hole casing.

Equipment

The sensors we use for borehole imaging are the market-leading, almost industry standards: ALT ABI (Acoustic televiewer) and OBI (Optical televiewer).

However, if necessary, you can ask us for alternative equipment. Geovisor has excellent connections to equipment rental companies and an extensive cooperation network. Our staff has extensive experience in various geophysical equipment.

Data

Client will always receive quality assessed raw data from the loggings. Additionally processing, analysis and reporting of the results are executed according to contract.

Reporting according to request and introduction to the survey results will be done as requested.
