Pumping tests
Where
With the pumping tests, it is possible to define the groundwater proceed of the borehole. By examining the status of the groundwater level of nearby boreholes during the pumping tests, it is possible to define the connected hydrogeological structures between the boreholes.
Advantages
Pumping tests provide direct information on the hydrogeological structures of the bedrock, the hydraulic connections of the structures and flow in the rock. It also produces direct information to support hydrogeological modelling.
Surveys
The survey is carried out in pre-defined boreholes. One borehole is pumped and selected boreholes’ groundwater level is examined during pumping. The duration of pumping is always defined according to the objectives of the study, but it is also affected by the water yield of the borehole. On average, pumping tests last about 1-3 weeks per borehole and pumping is carried out 24 hours a day.
Equipment
The pumping equipment is always selected individually according to the objectives of the study and the expected water proceed. Submersible groundwater pumps are generally used
